New York State has mailed the 2010 Direct Certification letters to families receiving temporary assistance, which qualifies school aged children for free meals. If you have received your Direct Certification letter, you may turn it in at your earliest convenience to the Food Service Department at 369 Sixth North St. between 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., or hand deliver it to any school district building during their office hours.

Deadline Approaching for Ed Foundation's Go Green Grant Applications

The deadline to apply for the Go Green Grants from the Syracuse City School District Educational Foundation is fast approaching. All grant applications must be postmarked no later than the August 13, 2010 in order to be considered for funding. Applications must be mailed to: SCSD Educational Foundation, 9827 Carousel Center Dr.

Members of the Syracuse City School Districts Department of Pupil Services have recently been trained in Structured Sensory Interventions for Traumatized Children, Adolescents and Parents (SITCAP). In addition, the district has been recognized as an accredited member with the National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children (TLC).

The NYS Education Department has announced they are raising the cut scores for the grades 3-8 math and ELA assessments . The raising of the cut scores is the first step in a broader reform vision which has yet to be outlined.
