Syracuse City School District Students Participate in 2012 New York State School Music Association All-State Music Festival and the 2012 Onondaga County All-County Music Festival
Students from across the Syracuse City School District have recently been recognized for their musical acumen by participating in the NYSSMA All-State Music Festival and 2012 Onondaga County All-County Music Festival. Their selection to such prestigious musical events is a testament to their hard work and musical talent.
Three students from Henninger High School participated in the NYSSMA Area All-State Music Festival at Ithaca College: Joshua Dykes, Rachel Briscoe in the Mized Chorus, and Malik Clanton on Alto Sax in the Symphonic Band and as a soloist with the Orchestra. All three students attend Henninger High School.
Ten students from the SCSD were selected to take part in the 2012 Onondaga County All-County Music Festival. Six students from the HS level were selected: Corcoran High School’s Gabriel Smolnycki, Quinn Boyle and Joshua Hintz joined Henninger’s Rachel Briscoe and Joshua Dykes along with Nottingham’s In-Hye Yang. Hannah Cofer, Sophia Therese Kinne, Signe Golash and Bela Harris all took part in the Jr. High All-County Band. Hannah and Bela attend Ed Smith while Sophia attends Clary and Signe Roberts.
Gabriel Smolnycki is a junior at Corcoran and played bass clarinet in the All-County Band while his classmate Josh Hintz was selected as a tenor in the All-County Chorus. Also, singing tenor in the All-County Chorus was Josh Dykes with Rachel Briscoe being selected as a soprano. In-Hey Yang was chosen to play in the All-County Orchestra playing the violin.
Congratulations to each of these very talented musicians and singers!
