Nottingham teacher Don Little recently completed 40 hours of classroom instruction and created a primary-source-based curriculum project as part of the National Endowment for the Humanities Landmarks of American History and Cultural Workshop, “At the Crossroads of Revolution: Lexington and Concord in 1775.”

Fowler Student Named Engineering Pipeline Scholar

Abrar Atiya Aljiboury, a Fowler High School student, is among 20 scholars from Syracuse-area schools who participated in the competitive “Engineering Pipeline Program” at National Grid, the centerpiece of the company’s global “Engineering Our Future” initiative designed to inspire youth and attract and develop engineers for tomorrow’s workforce. Only 50 students across National Grid’s U.S.

Building Men UTC Summer Program Wraps Up

The Syracuse City School District’s Building Men program piloted a summer program entitled Building Foundations at Levy School.  Building Foundations was incorporated into the Urban Teacher Calendar (UTC) at Levy for the summer.

August Commencement Date Announced

The Syracuse City School Districts August Commencement will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 at 7:00 PM. The ceremony will take place in the Crouse-Hinds Theatre at the Civic Center. Eligible students from Corcoran, Fowler, Henninger and Nottingham will be participating in the ceremony. Doors will open for family and friends at 6:00 PM.  

 

Cornell University Hosts Students for Expanding Your Horizons Program

Aspiring 9th grade female scientists and mathematicians from Nottingham High School attended Cornell University’s Expanding Your Horizons (EYH) program. The program is designed to motivate young women in the fields of science and mathematics.
 

Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority Recognizes Youth Achievement Award Winners

The Xi Chapter of the Lambda Kappa Mu Sorority held its 41th Annual Youth Achievement Luncheon at Drumlins Country Club. Lambda Kappa Mu is a national organization of business and professional women whose mission is to provide community service and support, encourage scholarly pursuits and empower its members to address societal issues. 
 

Corcoran Alumni Help Coordinate Local Youth Football Clinic

Corcoran alumni Jo-Lonn Dunbar and Will Allen were part of organizing a football clinic for Syracuse area youth. This clinic was coordinated with fellow local NFL players and over 300 9–12 year olds took part.
