Board of Education Approves Interim Code of Conduct

The Board of Education unanimously voted to approve an Interim Code of Conduct at its regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, December 11, 2013. The interim code of conduct will be put into effect immediately and will remain in place for the remainder of the 2013-14 school year.

The interim code of conduct includes information pertaining to the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) as well as more clearly explaining what progressive discipline is.  The Code of Conduct Task Force which is charged with will hold their first meeting on December 19th will work throughout the school year to create a new district Code of Conduct.  The task force is expected to complete their work by June 30, 2014.

During the meeting Superintendent Contreras recognized the recent achievements of the Institiute of Technology Chess Club, National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), MOST Build em and Bust em winners and Nottingham parent Dudley Breed.  The Board also approved the appointment of Sarah Gentile to Supervisor of Fine Arts.
