Syracuse Latin School has been awarded Terra Science and Education Capacity Building Grant to fund a robotics Enrichment Cluster.  The $5,000.00 grant will be used to purchase 12 VEX IQ robots, computer licensing for programming, and a competition field.  Vex IQ Robots are the elementary version of the  robots used by the middle and high school students and run on the same platform.  Through this program we are looking to expose students at a young age to STEM connections that will lead our students to careers in the STEM-related fields.  Robotics is a very engaging, hands-on activity that allows students to use the engineering and design process to design a robot that will complete various activities and tasks.  Research indicates it is extremely important to emphasize connections in the STEM-related fields at an early age to encourage students to gain interest and begin planning for a career in a STEM-related field.
