Do you...

  • Need a high school diploma?

  • Have a diploma but want to brush up on reading or math skills?
  • Want to enter a career training program?
  • Want assistance with creating a resume?
  • Want to gain skills to improve your job?
  • Want to be able to help your children their homework?

What can the Sidney L. Johnson Vocational Center do for me?

The programs at the Sidney Johnson Center are designed to assist you in the development of your skills and knowledge for today’s workplace.

We offer both GED preparation programs as well as hands on technical training programs in our convenient downtown location.

The programs are structured on both a full-time and part-time basis to accommodate your busy schedule.

We also offer programs in satellite sights around the city if traveling downtown is not convenient.

If you need to study at home, we offer GED Distance learning home study programs.

Whatever your circumstances may be, we will work with you to achieve your goals.

The Syracuse Literacy Zones are Growing!

The Syracuse City School District has received a third grant to establish a Literacy Zone on the south side of Syracuse! We are now the only organization in New York State to have been awarded three Literacy Zones. Our newest Family Welcome Center is located in the Adult Education wing at Dr. King Elementary School. We continue to work hard to serve adults and their families. As is the case at both the North and West Family Welcome centers, the South Literacy Zone has two case managers housed at the South Family Welcome Center to assist students in pursuit of their education, career and family goals. We currently offer GED classes at the South Family Welcome Center and at Beauchamp Branch Library. Stay tuned as we will soon be offering other classes as well.
