The New York State Education Department has just released the school acountability designations for the 2016-2017 school year.  This process identifies schools and districts across the state based on student progress on the NYS Assessments and high school graduation rates. This identification process groups schools into various categories, each indicating a different level of accountability and needed support as determined by New York State.  The categories are as follows:
  • Persistently Struggling Schools
  • Priority Schools (Struggling Schools)
  • Focus Schools
  • Schools in Good Standing
  • Reward Schools
For the past three years, Huntington PK-8 School has been designated as a Focus School.  However, we are excited to announce that for the 2016-2017 school year, we have been designated as a “School in Good Standing”!

This designation is in part due to your support and involvement in your child’s education, and your support of all that we do here at Huntington.  While this is great news, we assure you that we will continue to work hard each and every day for your child’s success, and we ask for your continued collaboration and assistance.
