Teen Book Fest

15 members of the ITC Book Club journeyed to Nazareth College Saturday for the Rochester Teen Book Festival along with students from Fowler, Nottingham, Henninger, Huntington, Lincoln, HW Smith, Elms, Danforth, and Frazer.  The book fest provided the students with the opportunity to attend presentations, meet some of their favorite young adult authors and get their books signed.  Most of the books that were read this year were by these very same authors!

Many of the students attended an author panel made up of several teen authors.  Cornelius Carswell “really liked hearing about their writing process” and Hanan Muse convinced ITC librarian, Mr. Sohoski, to buy copies of Blood of an Assassin by Hannah Olin and The Enchantress by Sarah Hamilton for book club members to read next year.  Mr. Sohoski feels “it will be very inspiring for the students to kick off next year’s book club with their very own copy of these books that the authors signed for them.”

Sophomore Saviere Williams was literally jumping for joy after meeting Suzanne Young.  She is the author of Hotel Ruby, which was one of the most popular books the book club read this year.  Mussaya Thanthima was instrumental in picking a couple of Suzanne Young’s books to read this year and found it interesting to learn that in addition to writing, she is also an English teacher.

ITC senior Brittany McIntosh summed up the experience in a single word, “Amazing!”
