Superintendent's Message to Staff - June 2

I hope you enjoyed a relaxing Memorial Day weekend. We are nearing the end of the school year and if I can do anything to assist you in finishing out the year on a good note, I encourage you to reach out. We are all Going for the Gold together!

This week, I was pleased to host members of the Superintendent’s Student Cabinet for our final gathering of the 2016-17 school year. We traveled to Arrowhead Lodge where we had important discussions about school start times, school lunches, school safety and more. We recognized our Class of 2017 seniors and wrapped up our time together with some fun outdoor games and a great picnic lunch catered by the SCSD Office of Food & Nutrition Services.

A group of Delaware 5th graders were recognized at a press conference this week for their community service. Throughout the year, the students have made sandwiches for The Samaritan Center, painted boards for the Syracuse Land Bank, held healthy snack sales to benefit St. Lucy’s Food Pantry and more. At the event, Destiny USA and Visit Syracuse unveiled the Summer Fun Pass, presenting one to each of the fifth grade students involved in these community service projects. What a great way to recognize the students for being #SCSDCivicReady!

Finally, this week’s #SCSDLookBack video features Health & Wellness Night at Franklin, senior breakfast at Fowler, a Spelling Bee at Dr. King, KiloWatch presentations at Ed Smith & Frazer, Lincoln students visiting LeMoyne College, meditation at Syracuse Latin, a Personalized Learning Showcase and more.

Have a great weekend!

Sincerely,
Jaime
