SCSD Teaching and Learning Framework and Rubric
The Syracuse City School District will be using the SCSD Teaching and Learning Framework and Rubric to evaluate K-5 teachers for the 2012-2013 school year. Teachers of students in grades 6-12 will continue to be evaluated using the Danielson Framework for Teaching and Learning. This rubric, which has been approved by the New York State Education Department, will serve as a tool to aid in the observation, coaching and development, and growth of all K-5 teachers. It will not be used as a checklist, but rather as a guide, with observers rating teachers based on “a preponderance of collected data.’’ So, while teachers may not exhibit all the bulleted skills within a level, observers will use their professional judgment along with the Framework and Rubric to decide on ratings and to write growth plans.
