Once Upon a Time
Cinderella is in the library? Of course! So are Snow White, Jack, Brer Rabbit, three bears, and Strega Nona. Each class at McKinley-Brighton visited our “Once Upon a Time” room where Mrs. French, the Library Media Specialist, encouraged the students to identify and describe the many characters. Then the lights were turned off and lots of oohs and ahhs were heard! The characters glowed in the dark!
Many children contributed to this experience. Mrs. Mahar’s and Mrs. Bleecker’s extended day students had fun braiding Rapunzel’s hair and making several displays such as the Three Bears, Three Pigs and Cinderella displays. Mr. Lounsbery’s students made a scary looking dragon after reading the book, A Tale Dark and Grimm. Ms. Pitt’s students created Red Riding Hood, the bridge for the 3 billy goats and also applied lots of fluorescent paint. Everyone who contributed signed their names on the inside of our gigantic castle.
