Kamron Davis will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology and plans to study mechanical engineering technology.
What is the one thing that helped you succeed in school?
Playing basketball helped me succeed in school because it taught me how to plan my time and as a result help myself prepare for school in ways I never thought of.
Who is your most memorable teacher and why?
Mr. Pierce because he taught me so much and exposed me to much of the engineering world online.
What one word would your friends use to describe you?
Athletic
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I am most proud of being consistent with my studies while competing every winter with my basketball family.
What is your favorite food?
Chicken
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
Designing and creating the tools of the future.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
If I could change something about myself I would like to be more organized.
What will you miss most about high school?
I will miss the people I have met over my four years of high school the most.
What advice would you give underclassmen?
I would tell the underclassmen to stay persistent if I were to give them any advice, because school will not end your senior year.
Annie Jaffe will attend Boston University to study television and film.
What is the one thing that helped you succeed in school?
My parents have been incredibly supportive of me and have helped motivate me to do my best and try new things.
What one word would your friends use to describe you?
I’ve heard spirited, quirky, funny, and smart. It’s hard to sum yourself up in a word.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I helped get the wheels in motion for creating a television station for my school, which I am extremely proud of.
What is your favorite food?
Sushi
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
Hopefully something I love. I want to be a screenwriter but I would love for what I write to have positive social messages.
Who is your hero and why?
This one is tricky – I really admire Mindy Kaling because she’s a woman in a male dominated industry, but not only that, she’s really good at what she does. I also really am a geek because my mom is my ultimate role model and best friend.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I would eliminate my need to sleep so I could do more.
What will you miss most about high school?
The predictability
What advice would you give underclassmen?
Try everything to find the things you love.
Jacob Reeder will be attending the University of Pennsylvania in September.
What is the one thing that helped you succeed in school?
Dedicated teachers that have gone above and beyond the call of duty to teach their classes.
Who is your most memorable teacher and why?
Ray Sturge, the band, music and life teacher. He knows something about everything and is always willing to jam or teach during his off hours.
What one word would your friends use to describe you?
Dedicated. I love being at school and I love seeing the finished product of something I have completed.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I’ve been the technical director of the Drama Club for several years, which means that I’ve gotten to help build all of the huge sets we use. This job, specifically, has really taught me why to work hard.
What is your favorite food?
A catfish burrito from Alto Cinco on Westcott Street.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I hope to be making a difference in the ways city schools operate and offer opportunities to students.
Who is your hero and why?
My hero is Ben Franklin because he was a little bit of everything: musician, scientist, statesman and orator. I aspire to be knowledgeable on many subjects and his intelligence is a huge goal to work toward. He also found my college!
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wish I could worry less. I’m not crazy obsessive, but sometimes my own head gets in the way of achieving something risky.
What will you miss most about high school?
Teachers that identify your shortcomings and misunderstandings before you do. In college, there is a lot of independence and I’m going to miss the safety net of teachers I see every day.

Samira Shirwa is planning to attend Syracuse University in the fall to study engineering.
What is the one thing that helped you succeed in school?
The devotion of my parents and teachers.
Who is your most memorable teacher and why?
Mr. Procopio. He has surpassed all expectations I had coming into high school. A mentor, a friend, a humanitarian.
What one word would your friends use to describe you?
Dramatic
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Learning how to drive! , just kidding. I’m proud of myself for being able to juggle school and work effectively.
What is your favorite food?
I used to love chicken, especially sesame chicken but I am now vegetarian so my options are limited. I like pizza.
What do you hope to be doing 10 years from now?
I hope to have invented at least one thing that helps motivate the world.
Who is your hero and why?
My hero is my mother for being able to find strength in herself when even we couldn’t and for being able to work while having cancer.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I can be too fixed sometimes and close-minded. I’d like to be able to open up more sometimes and be less judgmental.
What advice would you give underclassmen?
Join as many clubs as possible. Never give up on yourself. You are your own competition.
Kathleen Kennedy will attend Syracuse University in the fall and will begin working toward a degree in fine arts.
What is the one thing that helped you succeed in school?
Theater, because it gave me a purpose for being there; also the encouraging teachers.
Who is your most memorable teacher and why?
Mrs. Fennessy, she was my love for theater early on and always encouraged me in whatever aspect I wanted at the time – writing, acting, painting, directing, crew. She always found me an opportunity.
What one word would your friends use to describe you?
Busy
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Winning the Young Playwright Competition the last two years, seeing your written work being appreciated is a very special feeling.
What is your favorite food?
Coffee
Who is your hero and why?
My mom – she is hardworking, she has the toughest job and always tries to find joy in everything.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My constant need to do everything – I love that, but I just think it makes things more difficult.
What will you miss most about high school?
Theater and the teachers
What advice would you give underclassmen?
Get involved. In anything. Especially something that makes you feel important, that gives you a purpose to come to school. Find something to pursue.
