Students, staff and area politicians were just a few of the people who participated in a groundbreaking ceremony at H.W. Smith School.

The school will be renovated over the next school year and when it reopens in September 2013 it will have six classroom additions, new plumbing and electrical systems and a new roof. The plan calls for extensive renovations to the interior of the school building as well.
