The Career Field

Laboratory personnel examine and perform lab tests on blood, blood cells, tissues and other body fluids to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Medical laboratory technicians play an important role in the prevention and diagnosis of diseases.

Technologists examine, test and analyze specimens using microscopes, cell counters, and other high-tech laboratory equipment. They also use automated equipment and computerized instruments to test specimens.

The Program

Working in a medical laboratory environment, students will acquire an Associate's degree and the knowledge and technical skills that will prepare them for positions as entry-level laboratory technicians in a clinical laboratory.

Students will gain practical learning experience through:

  • Collection and testing of samples
  • Scientific investigations and experiments
  • Writing reports and presenting information in a state-of-the-art, high-tech laboratory setting
