November Updates
Dear Families,

It's hard to believe the second marking period is already upon us. As we enter the holiday season, it's important that you continue to support your child's school attendance. If they are healthy, children should be in school, on time, every day. If our team can support your child's attendance, please call your school directly or reach out to our Office of Family & Community Engagement for guidance.

This month, schools will be operating on a half day schedule on Tuesday, November 3rd; closed on Wednesday, November 11th; and closed for Thanksgiving Recess from Wednesday - Friday, November 25 - 27. Please note this is a change from the printed Calendar/Handbook - there will be NO SCHOOL for the entire day on Wednesday, 11/25.

We hope you will review our many upcoming family-friendly events and find a few opportunities to engage and/or support our talented students!

Help Keep Our Students Healthy This Winter

The SCSD Health Services team encourages all families to review the guidelines to determine if a child is too sick to attend school.

Please keep your child home from school when they have any of the following:

  • Oral temperature of 100.4 F or above
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting

A child may return to school when symptoms are gone for 24 hours. Coughs, colds, and runny noses are common in children and do not require a child to stay home if symptoms are mild. However, if cold symptoms include a fever or cough that is excessive enough to disrupt learning, a child should stay home to rest. Always contact your child's doctor if symptoms worsen. If you have questions, please contact your healthcare provider or your school nurse!
