Mission
The Syracuse City School Library System members work collaboratively to facilitate student learning and achievement through developing higher-level thinking skills and literacy by teaching the effective use of information resources and technologies and instilling a lifelong appreciation of literature and learning.

Information Fluency Instruction
The Empire State Information Fluency Continuum is the Common Core aligned information fluency standards adopted by New York State. The Syracuse City School District library program bases information literacy education on these standards.Currently, the 32 Library Media Specialists are refining these standards to best meet our student's needs.

Instructional Technology Integration
Instructional technology integration is supported by the Library Media Specialist in each building. Professional development in effective instructional technology integration is provided through the partnership of Library Media Specialists and an Instructional Technology Integration Specialist.
