WELCOME!

A bitmoji of Mr. Wood standing in the library door with a banner above the door that says "Welcome"
The days of the school library being just a collection of books and a silent space for reading and homework have passed. To help our students become dynamic critical thinkers equipped for success in a 21st century world, the school library must be an equally dynamic learning and collaboration hub for students, staff, and families.

The concept of a Learning Commons places the school library and the teacher-librarian as a central resource for authentic inquiry-based learning experiences; collaborative planning, exploration, expression, and reflection of learning; developing, practicing, and refining technology and information skills; and a hub for maximizing our talents and resources for maximum effectiveness. It is our goal for our Syracuse STEM @ Blodgett Library Dream Center to step into and realize the vision of a learning commons by serving as an interwoven thread through all aspects and levels of our curriculum.
