Please join us for an In-Person Family Fun Pie Night on 12/15/22, 5-6:45PM, @MB cafe
This is our culminativing event for the book, Pie, that our whole school read; for the One School, One Book Grant. This grant supplied SCSD with money to purchase books and author presentation to strengthen our home, school and community connections! Talk about what you haver read. What was your favorite part? I was surprised when the children discovered their principal was a body builder. What surprised you? Reading is a social activity! Tast pie and Mingle about books!
First, we will do a craft or writing related to Pie at tables.
Then, we will shake our wiggles out to be ready to sit for 30 minutes and listen.
Next, chosen students will read their question and everyone can actively listen to author's response in a virtual visit with Sarah Weeks at 5:30, on 12/15/22.
We don't have time for every student to ask a question but we all can all participate by listening actively and learning from Sarah Weeks's responses!
Are you wondering about something that you'd really like to ask Sarah Weeks. Click here to type your question.
Finally, we can taste over 30 pies! How many samples can you eat? What was your favorite? How are they the same? How are they different?
All students at McKinley - Brighton Elementary School Have read and interacted with Pie by Sarah Weeks. On the 15th, it is time to taste some of Aunt Polly's Pie recipes.

ACCESS TO BOOKS Participants received a book, Pie, to build their personal library.
FAMILY ENGAGEMENT A school-wide read grants the perfect opportunity to further involve families in their children's learning. An author presentation makes it all more relevevant so they can connect to their lives.
Hope to see you soon!
