SCSD Teachers Create Engaging Lessons through Virtual Instruction:
At McKinley-Brighton, students may be learning virtually, but third grade teacher Melanie Amodio made it a priority to help students feel as if they were right there with her in the classroom.

Salem Hyde to Switch to Remote Learning for All Students:
All students attending Salem Hyde Elementary School will be utilizing remote learning for the next two weeks beginning on Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
On Friday we were notified that there was a staff member at Salem Hyde Elementary School that has tested positive for COVID-19 and we have now learned from the Onondaga County Health Department that there are other staff members who are now also positive.

Salem Hyde Staff Member Tests Positive for COVID:
October 9, 2020
Dear Syracuse City School District Families and Staff,
Today, an employee at Salem Hyde Elementary School reported that they have tested positive for COVID-19. The school building was disinfected and sanitized last night, as it is every night, and the employee did not report to work today after testing positive.

Salem Hyde Students Host Fundraiser to Benefit Australia:
Salem Hyde kindergarteners in Beth Craver’s class were studying plants as part of a CKLA unit, discussing their importance to people and animals. Ms. Craver discovered some age-appropriate videos about the brush fires in Australia, using those to explain the importance of eucalyptus trees to koalas, who eat the leaves and make homes in the trees.
