Biotechnology Program

Do you like math and science? Do you like discovering things? Are you a caring person who wants to help solve problems?
The Career Field:
Biotechnology is a term that encompasses all facets of the medical and biological sciences. Whether you are interested in finding a cure for cancer, doing research in a lab, or providing direct care to ailing patients, this pathway may be the first step. A background in biotechnology can lead to a career in medicine, research, science, public health, environmental conservation and many others.
The Program:
In this STEM program pathway, students will be exposed to several different levels of science and math courses. Students will begin earning college credits as early as their 9th grade year in concurrent enrollment classes taught at ITC.
As seniors, students will be on the OCC campus taking college classes in the morning and returning to ITC in the afternoon to finish their high school requirements.
At the completion of this pathway, students will earn a minimum of 24 college credits that they can use to attend OCC to major in a Liberal Arts & Sciences: Mathematics and Science A.S. degree or they can transfer those credits to another 2 year or 4 year college of their choice.
