The Career Field:
The use of drones or Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems is becoming one of the fastest growing technologies in the country. Across the world hundreds of industries are being revolutionized by integrating Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems. In fact, the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System industry is expected to create more than 100,000 new jobs by 2025, with an economic impact of $82 billion. Central NY is home to one of only six FAA testing sites for UAS research and development in the country.
The Program:
The Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems P-TECH pathway at the Public Service Leadership Academy (PSLA) at Fowler prepares students to enter this fast-growing field. Students will participate in hands-on learning in developing the basic skills necessary for piloting, engineering, and repairing Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems.
