The Career Field:
Manufacturing jobs are growing at the fastest rate in 23 years. Manufacturers are paying high hourly wages and highly valued benefits. They use tools and machines to make engines, computers, aircraft, ships, boats, toys, electronic devices, control panels, and more. Computer- controlled machine tools are used to produce precision metal parts, instruments, and tools.
Apprenticeships focus on training for a specific career as you learn your trade by actually doing the job. You gain hands-on experience and have the opportunity to apply your skills while getting paid!
The Program:
The Pre- Apprenticeship Program at Corcoran will prepare students to be first in line for a Registered Apprenticeship as an Industrial Manufacturing Technician. Students receive on the job training in the manufacturing field of their choice coupled with classroom instruction.
Students will receive assistance in matching up their interests and skills to a specific manufacturing career. They will learn basic technical and career readiness skills that will prepare them for full apprenticeship. Students will participate in a variety of work-based learning activities that include:
