FAQs for Students currently enrolled in SCSD
How do I obtain an application for my 8th grader?
Paper applications were mailed home to every SCSD 8th grader in November. If you did not receive it, please click here to to complete the online form. The original form is available Here.
Where do I submit my child's application?
Online applications are electronically submitted to your child's middle school counselor upon completion.
Paper applications must be submitted to your child's middle school counselor.
What are the next steps in the process?
All students applying to the STEAM High School will be required to participate in an interview with the STEAM Interview Committee. A representative from the Committee will contact the parent/guardian to schedule the interview. There are additional showcase requirements for students applying for the Performing and Visual Arts Programs.
Students applying to all other CTE programs will be required to participate in the Interest Survey process facilitated by the Career and Technical Education Department.
The CTE and STEAM Interest and Interview Committees will then recommend students to enter the lottery.
When will the lottery be conducted?
Submission of an application does not guarantee placement. If there are more applications for a program than we have seats available, the district will conduct a lottery using our online Right Reason lottery platform. The lottery will be conducted in April 2025.
When will families be notified of their child's acceptance status?
Notifications letters will be mailed in May 2025.

How do I obtain an application for my 8th grader?

Where do I submit my child's application?
Online applications are electronically submitted to the Department of Student Registration upon completion.
What are the next steps in the process?
All students applying to the STEAM High School will be required to participate in an interview with the STEAM Interview Committee.
