Peaceful Schools Enrichment Program

The Peaceful Schools Enrichment Program supports students’ growth in the core social skills of Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-Control (C.A.R.E.S.). Led by our team of dedicated enrichment instructors, students will engage in fun, hands-on, project-based learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (S.T.E.A.M.).

The Peaceful Schools Enrichment Program aims to help students develop social competence, reduce incidences of youth violence, and establish value in and connection to their community. Peaceful Schools is committed to giving everyone the power to be peaceful.

 

Enrichment Program at H.W. Smith PreK-8 School 2019-2020

This year at H.W. Smith, students in grades K-3 will develop and practice social skills through a multi-disciplinary exploration of visual arts, music, dance, fitness, and S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Students in grades 4-8 are given the opportunity to select two semester-long enrichment courses, from offerings including: Science and Citizenship, Visual Arts, Health and Fitness, Performing Arts, Game Design, Marketing and Media, Peace Leaders, Dance, and Building Men, offered in partnership with the Building Men Program.

Peaceful Schools is proud to be entering our 6^th year providing high-quality enrichment programming as the Community-Based Partner at H.W. Smith through the SCSD Extended Learning Time initiative.
