Following the recent tragedy in Buffalo, the New York State Department of Education, in partnership with the Board of Regents, has reviewed the content of the upcoming 2022 Regents exams for any topics or content that could potentially compound student trauma surrounding the event. They determined that the U.S. History and Government exam contained content that may have been sensitive in light of the recent violent event. As a result, the New York State Department of Education has cancelled the U.S. History and Government regents exam that was scheduled for June 1st.

The Department will grant an exemption for students scheduled to take the exam and will provide additional information regarding the students scheduled to take the exam in August 2022 and January 2023.

At this time, all other June 2022 Regents exams will continue at their previously scheduled dates and times. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s high school directly!
