PSLA at Fowler High School Announces Fowler’s First ‘Wall of Distinction’ Honorees

PSLA at Fowler’s ‘Wall of Distinction’ Committee has announced the inaugural class of the Fowler High School Wall of Distinction!
 
The Class of 2022 nominees all met the criteria of being either a bona fide varsity student athlete; a student who demonstrated outstanding academic achievement while participating in extracurricular programs/activities, contributed to the advancement of the school or has been recognized for making positive contributions to his/her respective communities; or an individual or organization who has made extensive contributions to the school as a coach or an active participant in community service or volunteer activities directly benefiting students, staff, and programs at the school.
 
Congratulations to the Fowler High School Class of 2022 Wall of Distinction honorees:
 
  • Richard (Dick) & Mary Beth Abbott (Posthumously) – As parents, for their unwavering support and service to the school
  • Jaime Alicea – Former Principal and Superintendent, served the Syracuse City School District for 40 years and strongly advocated for the construction of the new athletic complex
  • Darrell Andrews, Sr. – Three sport athlete (Basketball, Football, & Track), Internationally recognized speaker and author of several books on motivation and team building
  • Jerry Brooks – Two sport athlete (Football, Baseball), received full baseball scholarship to Clemson University, drafted by LA Dodgers, played professional baseball for many years
  • Zanderland Dixon – Two sport athlete (Indoor & Outdoor Track), placed first - NYSPHSAA 55m Outdoor Championship
  • Toris Huffman – Two sport athlete (Indoor & Outdoor Track), placed first – NYSPHSAA Shot Putt Outdoor Championship
  • Jackiem Joyner – Internationally recognized Jazz saxophonist, single “I’m Waiting for You,” was No. 1 hit on Billboard Contemporary Jazz chart
  • Eddie McShan – Three sport athlete (Football, Wrestling & Track), Appointed to the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division - 3rd Department
  • Donald (Don) Merrill (Posthumously) – School’s first Athletic Director (1975–1988), oversaw the construction of the school’s first track and football stadium, appointed/mentored many successful coaches through his tenure establishing a strong and competitive athletic program
  • 4 x 100 Relay Team - Theresa Cochran, Zanderland Dixon, Agnes Ogletree, Stella Taylor, Coaches Patty Sacco and Barb Moon – placed first – NYSPHSAA Outdoor Championship
 
This Inaugural Class will be inducted into the school’s Wall of Distinction during halftime of the school’s October 7, 2022 Homecoming football game. Congratulations to all of these outstanding individuals!
