SCSD Libraries Celebrate Diverse Perspectives

This is a photo of several SCSD students and staff, holding a collection of books written by Native American authors. The SCSD Native American Education Program is leading a districtwide initiative to increase student access to literature authored by Native American writers, reinforcing the importance of Native voices across the District.

What does this look like?

At Webster Elementary School, Clary Middle School, and PSLA at Fowler High School, school libraries received curated book sets that are age-appropriate and expose students to rich and diverse Native perspectives. All SCSD schools will receive these book sets in the coming weeks.

Thank you, SCSD Native American Education Program, for committing to uplifting Native American authors and ensuring culturally responsive learning resources remain a meaningful part of the SCSD experience for years to come!
