Nottingham Wins First-Ever Mountain Goat Cheer Zone Competition
Nottingham High School captured the first-ever Mountain Goat Run Cheer Zone Competition title on Sunday, May 3, 2026, earning recognition as the loudest and most spirited cheering section along the 10-mile course. In the inaugural competition, SCSD high schools competed to create the most supportive cheer zone for runners. Race officials traveled the route on bikes and judged each section based on energy and enthusiasm.
Nottingham joined Corcoran, Henninger, ITC, and PSLA at Fowler in setting up cheering sections along the course. The Bulldog section stood out as students cheered loudly, clapped, and offered high fives to encourage Mountain Goat participants.
The Mountain Goat Committee raised money through donations from local businesses and individuals to enhance the cheer zones and make the event fun for SCSD students.
For winning first place, Nottingham was presented with a $1,000 check, while the other participating SCSD schools each received $500. Committee members said they hope to continue the competition next year, noting that runners always appreciate the extra encouragement and support along the course.
