SCSD Board of Education Names Anthony Davis Superintendent of Syracuse City Schools
The Syracuse City School District Board of Education has voted to formally name Anthony Davis Superintendent of the Syracuse City School District. Mr. Davis has served as Interim Superintendent since July 1, 2022.
“In conjunction with the input of the community, the Board of Education is thrilled to be able to offer Tony Davis the job of Superintendent and have him leading our District,” said Syracuse City School District Board of Education President Tamica Barnett. “He has dedicated his entire career to education and has been excellent in the interim role and we are confident he will be a great leader moving forward.”
Mr. Davis has worked in education for 38 years, 14 of them with the Syracuse City School District. He started his work with the Syracuse City School District in 1986 as a Teaching Assistant and then as a Special Education teacher before ultimately entering school administration in 1996 as an Administrative Intern at Henninger High School. In 1997, Mr. Davis accepted a leadership role in the Liverpool Central School District, where he served for almost 20 years. In that time, he provided a safe and secure educational environment along with a strong academic program for the district’s 2,300 students. In 2016, Mr. Davis returned to the Syracuse City School District as the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Schools before retiring. In July, he took on the role of Interim Superintendent.
