Author Eric Litwin Visited McKinley-Brighton Author Eric Litwin Visited McKinley-Brighton: K-3 classes have been participating in an author study of Eric Litwin.  The author of the Pete the Cat series visited McKinley-Brighton April 30 th .  His two performances for (grades 2 and 3 and K-1) rocked our library!  Students were actively engaged in singing, storytelling and dancing.  Teachers also participated!    Mr. Eric incorporates phonological awareness, literacy, song and dance to motivate students to put down the devices and read for pleasure!  ... more >>
Princess Ball Princess Ball: Newchannel 9 - Victory over Violence On Friday May3rd, @Mc-KinleyBrighton hosted a night of elegance to celebrate sisterhood.  It brought families together and provided an opportunity for scholars to interact socially.  It was an amazing event! more >>
Boys Academy Boys Academy: The mission of the Boys Acedmy, Grades 2-5, is to teach these young men to be respectful, responsible and safe.  They begin with the Affirmation Creed which values Positive Mental Attitude.   Each Friday Members of the Boys Academy inspect the school for areas to clean and they squirt, wipe and sweep to serve as an example McKinley-Brighton is a safe community worthy of uplifting. McKinley-Brighton Sisterhood Program Creates Sense of Community McKinley-Brighton Sisterhood Program Creates Sense of Community: Each Friday, a group of 35 fourth and fifth grade girls gathers in the McKinley-Brighton library. They open their journals and write about the ups and downs of their week. Soccer for Success Brings Intramural Athletics to Elementary Students Soccer for Success Brings Intramural Athletics to Elementary Students: “Where are you going to be scoring?” Franklin Physical Education teacher Amanda Ferriter asked a group of students lined up in the school’s gym.   “Over there!” they shouted in unison, pointing to a taped off space on the opposite side of the room.   Three days a week for twelve weeks, about 40 students gather in the Franklin Elementary gym for Soccer for Success.
