Vision:  We are a Technical Institute for the 21st Century.

Mission:  To develop academically successful and socially responsible citizens who are fully prepared to take on the challenges of college and careers in the 21st Century.
  • By the end of the 2016-17 school year, 90% of students in 2013 Cohort will graduate and the percent of graduates earning Advanced Designation will increase to 18%.
  • By the end of the school year, 75% of lesson plans will incorporate effective student engagement practices, such as higher-order thinking questions, think-pair-share, socratic seminar, etc. resulting in opportunities for students to engage in dialogue/discourse with one another at least twice during instruction as measured by lesson plan checks and walkthroughs.
  • 100% of core and CTE teachers will follow the school-wide data analysis process to identify strengths and need, to create and submit action plan in response to the data to admin team and coach for feedback and monitoring a minimum of quarterly.
  • By the end of the school year, 75% of teachers will implement student engagement practices, such as higher-order thinking questions, think-pair-share, socratic seminar, etc. resulting in 80% students engaging in dialogue/discourse with one another in alignment with lesson objective at least twice during instruction as measured by walkthroughs and formal observations.
  • By final survey administration, 85% of students will report an increase in positive responses from baseline on school-developed culture and climate survey that focuses on the target areas (i.e. bullying, safety,).
  • Increase reciprocal communication methods from 2015-16  School Year, and adjust the Family/Community Event Calendar and information nights schedule by November based on the results as evidenced by the school calendar posted on the website.

ITC Diversity Chat Connects Students: In a computer lab at ITC, students from Bosnia, Guatemala, Burma, Kenya and other countries – including the United States – gather for Diversity Chat.   “There has been a long-running civil war in Burma,” one student explained. “But it’s very pretty. ITC Teen Institute Achieves Goal!: ITC Teen Institute members’ No. 1 goal from this year’s annual conference was to raise awareness about drunk and distracted driving among the school’s 9 th -graders.   Consider the goal achieved!   Last week the Teen Institute students split into two teams and led the ninth-graders in icebreaker and awareness activities about drunk and distracted driving.  50 students signed pledges that they would speak up if the driver of the car they are in is texting ... more >>
McKinley-Brighton Visits ITC!: 5th-Graders from Mckinley-Brighton Elementary School spent half a day exploring the CTE offerings at ITC. Students had a fun time as they learned about the automotive program from Mr. Shepard, recorded a newscast with Mr. Newell in media, and made some delicious chocolate chip cookies in culinary with Ms. Buie and Ms. Parvese. ITC Participates in Teen Institute Conference!: Mikem Simpson (senior leadership team), Solomon Lawrence (leadership team), Kyra Spaights (leadership team), Gerri Hammond, Vernazjae McCullough, Steven Hopkins, Saviere Williams, Dejuan Tigner, Salma Muse, and Ellie Mayberry all recently participated in the 2016 Teen Institute (TI) Conference this past weekend. P-TECH Students Attend CNY Engineering Expo: P-TECH 10th grade students were invited to participate in the CNY Engineering Expo at the OnCenter. Students selected workshops based on their interests and worked alongside professional engineers. They were also treated to lunch and very inspirational words from National Grid’s Melanie Littlejohn. The day concluded with a workshop on principles of interpersonal competence by Dale Carnegie Associates.
