Superintendent's Message 1/25/19

This week, it was wonderful to see our 8th grade students visit PSLA at Fowler to attend the 5th annual CTE Expo. Our Career and Technical Education programs offer so many pathways for our students and help them become college and career ready, and the Expo is a great way for students to see firsthand which program might be of interest to them. I want to commend our CTE staff (and high school students) for organizing an awesome event again this year!
Speaking of awesome events, our Clary and ELMS students recently enjoyed a special visit from the CNY Jazz Arts Foundation to help them learn about Fine Arts curriculum in a new way. And our high school students are being celebrated for their own achievements, as a PSLA at Fowler senior has been named one of 25 nominees for a prestigious scholarship program; a Henninger high jumper continues to be celebrated for his athletic successes; and Corcoran’s boys basketball team was recognized for volunteering with We Rise Above the Streets. Check out even more of our students’ successes in this week’s #SCSDLookBack video, featuring service projects in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., art projects, music performances, and more.
Finally, tomorrow, five of our students will be performing in the Junior High All County Festival at Skaneateles High School. I hope you will consider attending at 3 pm to support these talented #SCSDArts students!
