Superintendent's Message 9/6/19
Published on 9/9/19
Welcome back! It was a short but busy week in the SCSD. Thank you all for your patience and support as we kicked off the 2019-20 school year. I appreciate the hard work of all of you in preparing for the opening of schools – I would like to extend a special word of thanks to our facilities staff including our trades workers and custodians as well as our IT employees, who went above and beyond to ensure that our buildings were all ready to open on time this week.
I had the opportunity to visit several of our school buildings this week and will continue my visits next week. It has been encouraging to see our students and staff engaged and ready to have a great year! It has also been wonderful to see such great community support. The Syracuse Fire Department again visited many of our schools on opening day to distribute pencils as they entered school. At Seymour and Delaware Primary, staff and residents from The Hearth on James handed out school supplies for students, including folders, pencils, crayons and glue. It really does take a village, and we are fortunate to have such a generous village in our greater Syracuse community.
Please take a few minutes to be inspired by our first #SCSDLookBack of the school year, featuring photos from the #SCSDFirstDay and more. All these smiles are sure to get you inspired for our first full week of classes next week!
I look forward to a new year of #SCSDSuccess. Remember to share your good news with us, and as always, please let me know if I can do anything to support you as you help guide our scholars.
