Superintendent's Message 10/4/19
Published on 10/7/19
Thanks to the Center for Missing & Exploited Children, students have been learning about how to be safe online and with strangers. Last week, several of our schools supported bikers on the Ride for Missing and Exploited Children. Students at LeMoyne and Ed Smith cheered on the bikers as they took part in their route.
This Wednesday, Franklin and Dr. Weeks hosted family engagement events encouraging families to walk with their children to school on safe routes. It is so important that schools keep finding new ways to engage families, and I am proud of these schools for their leadership in doing so while also encouraging healthy habits like walking to school!
As many of you know, one of our students, Samaia Goodrich was recognized last year by Prudential as a National Honoree for her community service and leadership. I know we have many students in our district doing exceptional things in the community, and they deserve recognition! Information will be going out to each of your schools next week regarding how to nominate a student, so please look for it and help shine a light on the great work our students are doing.
Finally, our latest #SCSDLookBack video features Delaware students enjoying an SU football game, Brighton Academy students designing boats, Bellevue students making dog toys for the CNY SPCA, STEM at Blodgett students touring Syracuse University, Syracuse Latin families enjoying Take Your Parent to PE Day, ITC students kayaking on Black River and more. I enjoy seeing our students and staff hard at work as we work our way through the second month of school. Keep striving for #SCSDSuccess!
