Superintendent's Message 10/18/19
Published on 10/21/19
Dr. Weeks hosted a tailgate-themed positive behavior incentive today, where students were invited to play outdoor games. They even enjoyed a special visit from Otto the Orange and representatives from the SU Cheerleading Squad! At ITC, students celebrated Spirit Week, where they wore pajamas, sports jerseys and more to show their school spirit. It was great to see the #SCSDSpirit within our school this week to help keep students engaged as the semester continues on.
Ed Smith students and staff were happy to return to their newly renovated building, and we look forward to seeing the new memories students and staff make in the new school. A special thank you to all of our staff members who worked tirelessly to get the school ready for our students! Parents and guardians were also actively engaged this week – many joined me for the first meeting of the Superintendent’s Parent Council, and I always value hearing their input and suggestions.
This week’s #SCSDLookBack video features Syracuse Latin students participating in pro-kindness and anti-bullying discussions, Meachem students collaborating on a STEAM activity, Seymour students celebrating diversity with a Hispanic Heritage Celebration, Nottingham students preparing for homecoming, Corcoran freshmen enjoying college visits, ITC students visiting Beaver Lake Nature Center, Franklin students learning about the skeletal system and more.
Finally, if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, we have so many SCSD activities taking place! Tomorrow (Saturday) at 8:30 am, volleyball teams from across the district will be competing in an All-City tournament at Nottingham. Starting at 9 am, consider attending the Building Men Breakfast at ITC. At 10 am, the Henninger football team will head to Corcoran for a city-city matchup. I hope you will take the opportunity to show your #SCSDSpirit!
