First Class Kindness
With health concerns threatening our communities, social distancing can create an increased sense of loneliness. For example, residents in nursing homes are not able to visit with family and friends, which can have a significant impact on their emotional well-being. While we may not be able to visit, we can send kindness in other ways… First Class style! Have your family write letters, draw pictures, or create word puzzles that can be mailed to nursing homes in our communities. Addresses for some local resident homes are listed below. What will YOU be sending to brighten someone’s day?
- Loretto Health and Rehabilitation (700 East Brighton Avenue Syracuse, NY 13205)
- Van Duyn Center (5075 West Seneca Turnpike Syracuse, NY 13215)
- Elderwood at Liverpool (4800 Bear Road Liverpool, NY 13088)

Thoughtful Thursdays: When we practice random acts of kindness, it releases positivity. We feel better, and the recipients of our acts feel better, which makes them more likely to be kind to others! Kindness can also reduce stress, reduce physical pain, strengthen bonds between people, and enhance both physical and mental health. Each Thursday, a recommended Random Act of Kindness will be suggested.
Share your pictures of your family participating in a Random Act of Kindness on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtag #SCSDCares.
