Dear Syracuse City School District Families and Staff,

We have received confirmation from the Onondaga County Health Department that we have had four students test positive for COVID-19.  Three of the students have been participating in virtual instruction and have not been physically in school and the fourth has taken part in in-person instruction at McKinley-Brighton Elementary School but has not been in school since Tuesday, October 13th.

The County Health Department through their contact tracing will be in touch with those, both staff members and students who they believe may have been exposed to the individuals who tested positive for COVID-19.  Anyone else testing positive will be isolating at home for the mandated period of time and will not return to work until they are cleared to by the County Health Department.

McKinley-Brighton has been cleaned, sanitized, sprayed and disinfected today including utilizing our electrostatic sprayers.  The school will remain open.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely, both in our schools and throughout the County.  If new information becomes available we will communicate that to you as well.

Please remember to wear your mask, stay socially distanced and to wash your hands.

Jaime Alicea
Superintendent of Schools
