Dear Syracuse City School District Families and Staff,

Today we began our yellow zone testing with the support of Onondaga County and the City of Syracuse.  We tested 694 students and staff at eight schools and we had just one positive result.  The positive result in this case was a PSLA staff member who was tested at Webster.  Thank you to everyone who helped organize today’s testing and who took the time to get tested.

Unrelated to our testing today, we were notified by the Onondaga County Health Department that we did have two additional staff members and eight students test positive for COVID-19.  The staff are from Grant and Huntington and were last in school on November 10th.

Three of the students are virtual and the other five students are from Syracuse STEM at Blodgett, Henninger, Syracuse Latin and Bellevue.  The two Bellevue students and the Henninger student were last in school on November 6th, the Syracuse Latin student was last in school November 9th and the Syracuse STEM at Blodgett student was last in school on November 10th.

The Onondaga County Health Department will be in touch with those, both staff members and students, who they believe may have been exposed to the individuals testing positive.

Please remember to wear your mask, stay socially distanced and wash your hands.  Thank you for your continued support as we work to keep you informed and up to date.

Sincerely,

Jaime Alicea
Superintendent of Schools
