Students Showcase Bilingualism and Diversity at Seymour Dual Language Academy Festival

Students and families at Seymour Dual Language Academy celebrated the end of the school year with a vibrant Multicultural and Bilteracy Festival on Wednesday, June 10, showcasing the diversity, talent, and achievements of the school community.

Throughout the event, students in grades K-5 highlighted their learning through art, poetry, fashion, dance, music, and student-led conferences. Classrooms featured displays focused on Spanish-speaking countries, while students proudly shared their work and demonstrated their growing bilingual skills with visiting family members and guests.

"Every year we strive to celebrate multiculturalism and bilingualism," said Seymour ENL Elementary Teacher Sandra McKenney. "This year, by expanding to student-led conferences, students are showcasing their writing and demonstrating their repertoire of languages."

One of the most popular attractions was the "Outfits Around the World" parade, where students proudly modeled traditional and cultural attire in a packed cafeteria as family members cheered and took photos. The celebration also featured foods from around the world.

The annual celebration continues to grow each year, providing students with meaningful opportunities to share their cultures, languages, and learning with the community.
