The Syracuse City School District Educational Foundation held its 12th annual Recognition Breakfast to honor the educators, district staff and community volunteers and organizations who go above and beyond to positively contribute to the education of SCSD students.
Enrichment partners who work within SCSD schools to add extended learning days and provide students with enriched, hands-on curriculum were also recognized, including Redhouse Arts Center, the Museum of Science & Technology, Contact Community Services, Baltimore Woods Nature Center, Peaceful Schools, Catholic Charities, Syracuse Stage, the Syracuse University Arts Education Department and SUNY ESF.
The 2015 Educator of the Year awards were presented, honoring Meghan Goodness (Hughes Elementary School Physical Education teacher), Colleen Jackson (Henninger High School Medical Assistant teacher), Patricia Clark (Executive Director of Student Support Services) and Ted Klamm (Salem Hyde Elementary School Teaching Assistant) for their exceptional service.
In addition, Patrick Spadafora was presented with the Recognition Award and Larry Bousquet was presented with the Founder’s Award, in appreciation of their tireless commitment to the students of the Syracuse City School District.
Finally, the event highlighted the 16 grant projects that were funded by the SCSD Educational Foundation within 12 district schools this year. The grants cover everything from science and technology to language and culture to social programs and anti-bullying. The Educational Foundation Recognition Breakfast, along with the Foundation’s annual golf tournament, help allow these grant programs to continue.
It was wonderful to see the many inspirational people and programs at work within the Syracuse City School District recognized for their influence. Thank you to all who attended and those who support our students through the Educational Foundation!
