Thanks to support from the Syracuse City School District Department of Fine Arts, CNY Arts and the Everson Museum of Art, five SCSD staff members and retirees will have their original artwork on display at the Everson in the fall.
As part of the SCSD “On My Own Time” employee art exhibit, the five winners were selected by a panel of community art professionals. Their work will be displayed at the Everson from October 3 to November 8.
Congratulations to the following artists, whose works were selected as Best of Show:

  • Celine Beers (Danforth) – Scrap Basket Trail (Fiber Art)
  • Trudy Coleman (Retired) – Art that Rocks, Ocean City (Color Photography)
  • Shawn Gillen-Caryl (Central Office) – Warmth in Winter (Fiber Art)
  • Stacy Griffin (Meachem) – Melting (Crayon)
  • Linda LaBella-Morgan (Retired) – Vivere (to Live) (Watercolor)
The “On My Own Time” program was created to provide an opportunity for workplaces to celebrate the artistic creativity of their employees. Currently in its 42nd year, 50 pieces were submitted this year—from photography to jewelry to paintings, sculpture and more.
In addition to the “Best of Show” winners above, six employees had work selected as the in-house People’s Choice, voted most popular by viewers. Congratulations to Celine Beers (Danforth – Lattice Quilt), Jessicah Bryan (Central Office – Scatter My Ashes), Lauren Burke (Danforth – Octopuissant), Trudy Coleman (Retired – Letchworth Gorge), J. Lachlan Kadick (Districtwide – Hand in Hand) and Mary Lynn Mahan (Ed Smith – Circle of Hope). Thank you to all who participated!
