Five Delaware Academy students learned about Internet safety and created entries for the 2016 New York State Kids Safe Online Calendar Poster Contest.  The goal of the annual contest is to encourage young people to use the Internet safely and securely, and to craft messages and images that will best resonate with their peers across the country about how to stay safe online.

Each student did outstanding work and was recognized with a congratulatory letter from the state as well as a certificate of participation bearing their original artwork in the background.  Fifth grade student Yulianiz Mendez was selected among the 1,200 entries from 141 different schools in the state as one of three winners in the grade 3-5 bracket!

Yulianiz was a Delaware 5th grade student last year and is now in the 6th grade at Westside Academy.  Yulianiz’s art work is the full page image for the month of December in the 2016 NYS Kids Safe Online Calendar, which is distributed throughout New York State.

You can see all winning submissions on the NYS Keeping Kids Safe Online webpage.
