More than 80 people attended a recent SCSD Holiday Mentoring Party at Syracuse University, intended to celebrate the partnerships between community mentors and SCSD students. Attendees included SU student organizations, SCSD students and their mentors. This is the second year that this event has taken place.

SU student mentoring organizations Project G.R.I.ND. (Greatness Resides in Nonstop Dedication) and JUMP (Juvenile Urban Multicultural Program) Nation were part of the party. The mentors include Stephanie Thompson, Mark Muhammad, Dan Romano, Jennifer Powell, Jennifer Sanders and more. Students from Danforth, Clary, Corcoran, Henninger, Roberts, ELMS and McKinley-Brighton attended the event as well.

Superintendent Contreras even joined in on the fun, celebrating with the students and taking selfies with them. At the party the students ate, danced, received gifts, and had lots of fun! Thank you to our many community mentors for their commitment to supporting SCSD students!
