Grant Middle School received a $2 million School Improvement Grant (SIG) from the NYSED. The funding at Grant Middle School means that the school is no longer considered an ‘out of time’ school, and the $2 million in SIG funds will go toward implementing AVID Schoolwide. AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination) includes research-based strategies and curriculum to help in students’ development of literacy, critical thinking and math skills. Implementation of AVID Schoolwide will be supported by SUNY Oswego. The grant funding will support various student achievement goals such as transportation and admission fees for field study experiences, professional development for teachers, personalized, blended learning and supplies to support parent involvement.
