ne Students Showcase Talents
Students from LeMoyne School showed off their intellectual gifts and talents at the school’s semi-annual Say Yes to Education (SYTE) Student Showcase.
The show was well attended by school staff, students and parents/families. The event gave students an opportunity to share information about program activities. Presentations included a shadow puppet show about friendship and caring, an overview of SYTE experiences presented by students, African drumming and African dance. Students also exhibited various art work and displayed project-based activities completed during the after-school program.
LeMoyne is one of many schools that highlighted students in the SYTE program during the week of February 11th – 14th. The SYTE program offers extended learning time that aligns with the Syracuse City School District curricula. SYTE provides students with culturally appropriate enrichment activities and authentic youth engagement and leadership opportunities aimed to develop the talents in children while supporting their physical, social and cognitive growth in a safe, supportive and nurturing environment. The next session begins on February 25, 2013. The program is offered to elementary students currently enrolled at the following schools: Bellevue, Ed Smith, Franklin, Frazer, Hughes, Huntington, HW Smith at Levy, Dr. King, LeMoyne, Meachem, McKinley-Brighton, Porter, Roberts, Salem Hyde, VanDuyn, Webster and Dr. Weeks.
