Our third annual Career and Technical Education (CTE) Expo was a success! On Wednesday and Thursday, SCSD eighth graders visited PSLA at Fowler, where they had the opportunity to see the District’s 24 CTE programs firsthand and interact with students currently in the programs. In case you missed it, don’t miss the Expo featured on NewChannel 9’s ‘Cool Schools’ segment! Our CTE programs are an incredible opportunity for our students to become #SCSDCareerReady, and I hope we will see enrollment in these programs continue to expand.
Delaware students were also featured on ‘Cool Schools’ this week for a project in which they made sandwiches for The Samaritan Center. Great work, Delaware. Students in the Nottingham Chorus also deserve recognition for their wonderful performance at Governor Cuomo’s State of the State address this week; and Syracuse Latin 2nd grader Jessica Subedi led the Pledge of Allegiance last night prior to the Mayor’s State of the City Address! I’m proud of all of our students and staff who show the community how #SCSDGivesBack.
This weekend, don’t miss your chance to cheer on Corcoran & ITC as the boys’ basketball teams take part in the Pathfinder Bank Zebra Classic! Both teams will be wearing throwback uniforms, reminiscent of Onondaga Valley and Central Tech, respectively. Corcoran faces Liverpool at 1:45 and ITC takes on Solvay at 3:30. Hope to see you there.
Finally, this week’s #SCSDLookBack video features Franklin students visiting Syracuse Stage & the Dorothy Day House, a Saturday Academy for staff, Lincoln students training for the Where Everybody Belongs program, the Corcoran Dance Company performing at a dance competition, Corcoran’s Poetry Out Loud competition, Salem Hyde students working together in math, Roberts students taking part in positivity projects, McCarthy at Beard students skiing at Orenda Springs and more. Share your good news photos with us on Twitter (@SyracuseSchools) to be featured next week!
