Superintendent's Message to Staff - February 10

Published on 2/14/17   Tagged under:    Superintendent

The snow days delayed this message, but I hope you enjoyed a nice couple of days and didn’t have to do too much shoveling!

Last Tuesday, I enjoyed seeing some of you – and members of the community – at the Southwest Community Center for a community meeting. We have made an extra effort this year to make sure that everyone’s voice is heard and that everyone feels they are a part of the conversation. I look forward to other events like this in the coming weeks and months.

Last week, I also enjoyed a nice conversation with members of the Superintendent’s Teacher Advisory Council (STAC). As the representatives for their respective buildings, I appreciate the insight into the things that are working and the things that need improvement. Please continue to share your thoughts with your school’s STAC representatives, or you are always welcome to contact me directly with any comments, questions or concerns.

On a related note, the SCSD Educational Foundation Annual Recognition Breakfast is coming up on March 18th. Each year, the Educational Foundation, along with the District, recognizes an Elementary Teacher, Secondary Teacher, District Administrator and Support Staff Member who help to ensure educational excellence in the SCSD. I know there are many deserving staff members across the district and I encourage you to nominate someone today!

Finally, I urge you to start this new week by watching our weekly #SCSDLookBack video. The video featuring last week’s activities includes Frazer students visiting the MOST, Syracuse Latin students wearing red for Heart Health, Ed Smith students having a Royal Tea Party, the Salem Hyde Choir singing the National Anthem at the Silver Knights game, Lincoln students hosting a canned food drive, Meachem students of the month, Senior Night at ITC, personalized learning at HW Smith, Paint Knight at Henninger, Webster students studying erosion and more. Please continue to share your good news with us on Twitter (tag @SyracuseSchools to be included next week)!

Sincerely,
Jaime
