Superintendent's Message to Staff - 5/18/18
Published on 5/21/18
We started the week with a great opportunity for all of our high school track and field athletes to come together and show their #SCSDAthletics talents at the 2018 All-City Track Championship! It was a perfect way to show off the new Henninger track and football field, and more importantly, to let our students show their skills.
On Tuesday, our Henninger Jazz Band visited Grant, Salem Hyde, Lincoln and Huntington to perform for students and help the young students see the musical opportunities available to them in high school. Collaboration like this is what helps our young students develop and early interest in music and fine arts, so we appreciate the Henninger students’ leadership!
In case you missed it, on Thursday morning, NewsChannel 9 meteorologist Kate Thornton broadcast live from ITC, where she featured several student groups on the station’s ‘Cool Schools’ segment. Check out these videos featuring the Innovation Club, Media Communications program and Culinary Arts program. The students did a great job highlighting several unique offerings at their school.
This week’s #SCSDLookBack video features LeMoyne students visiting the Erie Canal, SCSD staff who completed their CAS in Educational Administration through SUNY Oswego, Building Men Program students from Danforth visiting Orenda Springs, Meachem students learning about ocean habitats, Lincoln scholars visiting Philadelphia, Westside Academy at Blodgett scholars working on writing checklists, Webster students learning about recycling and more.
Finally, this weekend, don’t miss our All-City Visual Art Festival at Meachem, beginning at 10 am tomorrow (Saturday, May 19th). Students from across the district will have their artwork on display and this will be a great exhibit of #SCSDArts talent!
