Meet the New Principal: Porter Elementary’s Andy Nolan

The Syracuse City School District is pleased to introduce Andy Nolan, the new Principal of Porter Elementary School! Read the interview below to learn more about Mr. Nolan.

Tell us a little about yourself and your background.

I was born and raised in Syracuse and am a proud graduate of Corcoran High School (’07). I have worked with students in Pre-K through 12^th grade and am thrilled to return to Porter Elementary School, where I was a student for 7 years.

What is your favorite thing about Syracuse? 

My favorite thing about Syracuse is being able to explore with my son, Malcolm, and introduce him to the city’s incredible diversity and unique experiences.

What is your favorite thing about being a school administrator? 

My favorite thing about being a school administrator is getting to talk with students every day.

What is your greatest hope for your school? 

My greatest hope for Porter is that our students, families, and staff members have meaningful and memorable experiences every single day.

What are you most looking forward to about the 2021-22 school year? 

I am most looking forward to welcoming all of our students back on the first day of school so we can continue #ClimbingToGreatness!
