Normesha Dennis and Jeffrey Nguyen were recently honored by the Syracuse Auto Dealers Association (SADA) as part of the 2014 Class of Top Automotive Technology Students.   The SCSD seniors were joined by six of their peers from across the County at the annual SADA awards luncheon.

The honor of being the top Automotive Technology student is based on academic prowess, automotive skill and quality of work, the ability to adapt, leadership skills, and professionalism.  Both Ms. Dennis and Mr. Nguyen have demonstrated these abilities and more in their respective programs at the Institute of Technology and Johnson Center.
“Normesha has been in our program at ITC for 2 1/2 years and has excelled in all facets from the first day.  She is conscientious about her work and attendance and the Automotive Program at ITC has benefitted greatly from her work ethic and leadership,” said Robert Shepard, Automotive Technology Instructor at ITC.
Each of the winners was awarded a certificate of accomplishment from the SADA.  They also received nearly $1,000 in brand new tools which included a tool box, hammer, drill, sockets, and wrench sets.
“Through hard work and determination Jeffrey was able to become one of my most outstanding students,” said Automotive Technology Instructor Jim Sgroi.  “Jeffrey is the kind of worker who is reliable, willing to accept direction but also lead when necessary.  I have no doubt he will be successful in whatever he undertakes because of his willingness to learn and strong work ethic” added Sgroi.
